Chicago Public Schools (CPS) entered week 4 of the 2021-2022 school year with employees still awaiting information on a COVID-19 testing plan.

CPS employees have eagerly awaited for answers on when COVID-19 testing would resume in the new school year. Tension continues to grow between the Chicago Teacher Union (CTU) and CPS over safety conditions.

During a September 2 Press Conference, CTU raised concerns on the lack of COVID-19 testing information, among a long list of other safety concerns.

On September 21,  CPS employees finally received a long overdue email that listed test site information.

COVID-19 Testing for the 2021-2022 school year

At the time this article was written, CPS has provided 316 citywide locations accessible to all employees. Check down below at our interactive Google Map with the overlay of CPS’s testing site information.

Thermo Fisher Scientific and Color Health are the two parties providing testing services.

According to CPS’s new guidelines, testing will not be mandatory for vaccinated staff members. It is REQUIRED for unvaccinated staff members with eligible exemptions starting October 15, 2021.

To register for testing, click on this link. Results are to be released 24-48 hours on the Color Health platform.

Special notes about our MAp

The map we’ve created below is based on the information provided by CPS’s official testing site document. Please cross-reference our information with the original source for any changes. We will try our best to check for any updates weekly and make adjustments to our map below.

Our test site map is divided into all test sites and one day for each week. While overlaying the data, there is a pattern with Monday starting on the city’s north side and traveling down to the south side by the end of the week on Friday.

Times for test site operation exist either during the 9:00 to  10:30 am block or the 1:00 to 3:00 pm block.
